David writes -
"I was comissioned to design and paint a picture of a shop front. It was intended that the original would be reproduced and installed so that it appeared that two real shops existed in William Street, Birkenhead. The result is now installed near Hamilton Square.
The shops are entirely ficticious, containing hundreds of objects drawn from numerous sources including the lute, Della Robbia Pottery, clocks, an oil lamp and a watering can from home. There are lots of historic references - pounds, shillings and pence - pounds and ounces, an ancient tractor, Birkenhead News and Ann Lawton who for years owned a shop in William Street."
The image was reproduced in print form and there is an edition of 500 prints available. Contact David for more details.
